A Romantic Summertime Top Notch Resort Wedding in Stowe, Vermont

From Prom to the Green Mountains: Brittany and Johnny’s Story

There is something uniquely grounded about a couple that has grown up together. Brittany and Johnny first headed to prom together eight years ago, and this past August, they returned to their favorite place in the world to start their next chapter. Their summertime Top Notch Resort wedding was the perfect blend of Vermont’s natural beauty and personal, sentimental details that honored their journey from high school sweethearts to husband and wife.

Sentimental Details: Suede Boots and Heirloom Pearls

The morning began in the bridal suite at Top Notch Resort, a space that feels like a true mountain retreat. Brittany’s bridal style was a beautiful nod to her heritage and her history with Johnny. She stepped into a stunning Willowby by Watters gown, but the real showstoppers were her “something blue”: light blue suede Tecovas cowgirl boots.

It was a full-circle moment, as she had worn cowgirl boots to that very first prom with Johnny years prior. Her “something old”—a pearl bracelet from her great-grandparents—was tucked safely around her bouquet from Bramble and Bloom, which featured soft sage greens with pops of peach and light blue. Meanwhile, Johnny and his groomsmen, including Best Man Ryan King, got ready in a nearby townhome, leaning into the relaxed but semi-formal vibe of the day.

A Mountain View Ceremony at Top Notch Resort

The ceremony took place on the Mountain View Lawn, offering a panoramic look at the lush Green Mountains. Surrounded by 170 of their closest friends and family, the couple exchanged self-written vows. One of the most touching moments of the day was seeing both of Brittany’s parents walk her down the aisle, and having their close friend, Izzy Smith, officiate the union. The wedding party, led by Maid of Honor Page Dabney, looked incredible against the backdrop of the Stowe landscape.

Golden Hour and Dramatic Stowe Sunsets

While the entire day was beautiful, the evening provided an insanely beautiful sunset. We slipped away from the reception as the sun began to dip, capturing dramatic sunset photos that highlighted the vastness of the Stowe valley. The sky turned a brilliant shade of fire and violet, creating a silhouette against the mountains that felt like something out of a movie. These quiet moments away from the crowd allowed Brittany and Johnny to soak in their first sunset as a married couple.

Celebrating Under the Peaks: A Sunday-Best Reception

As the sun began to dip behind the pines, guests moved to the Mountain View Tent for a reception catered by Top Notch. The space was filled with thoughtful Vermont touches, including local syrup place-settings and a “Generations of Love” display.

The evening was a whirlwind of emotion—from the heartfelt toast by Brittany’s father, Chris, to the high-energy speeches by Page and Ryan. The couple shared their first dance to “Say You Won’t Let Go” by James Arthur before The Hub kept the energy high, ensuring the dance floor stayed packed until the very last song.
