WPJA Recognized: Capturing Authentic Wedding Moments
While I (Joanna) began my photography career at our family newspaper, The Boca Beacon, I surprisingly didn’t consider submitting our work to the Wedding Photojournalists Association until early 2024. In retrospect, it seems a bit foolish, as I deeply value my photojournalism roots and am immensely proud of Rhiannon and my ability to capture authentic, candid moments at weddings.
In 2024, our work was recognized by the Wedding Photojournalists Association with 29 awards. This achievement validates our commitment to capturing genuine and meaningful moments that truly resonate with couples. This aligns perfectly with the increasing demand for a more natural and documentary-style approach to wedding photography, where couples prioritize candid wedding photography and genuine emotions over staged poses.
The WPJA is dedicated to authentic storytelling through photojournalism in weddings. Their contests focus on the best documentary-style wedding photography, emphasizing the capture of genuine emotions and candid moments. They recognize photographers who excel in true storytelling.
